This 18-hole course situated on 200 hectares of indigenous coastal forest is renowned for it's fauna and flora and magnificent vistas. Umdoni is another typically short but testingly old-fashioned South Coast course where the wind plays a major roll in your game. A strong North Easterly can make this course a challenge to any golfer. Very hilly, and the holes take you through some beautiful indigenous bush. Splendid views over the Indian Ocean abound.
The course has a uniquely South African hole, called Majuba, this par-3 12th, just 110 metres, but played steeply uphill to a green seemingly perched in the bush.
After the days golf head back to the lodge for a relaxing afternoon or visit one of the many attractions the South Coast has on offer. Full guide on this can be found in the Southern Explorer booklet made available to you.

Day 4 Wednesday
Breakfast and then head out to the third course on the program which is Southbroom Golf Course. (about 30km away) OR Wild Coast Golf Course (about 50km away)
Established in 1934 and now measuring 5564 metres , Southbroom Golf Club is considered one of South Africa`s finest and most popular holiday resort courses. Over the years , the challenge and natural beauty of the course has been systematically enhanced by the introduction of more indigenous flora, dams, water features and delightful stone bridges.
The course has recently undergone further significant changes and new water hazards , bunkers and narrower fairways now make it a "must play '' course. Eighteen existing holes, each able to boast its own special feature , wind their way through some of the coast`s finest real estate and indigenous vegetation, flanked by the Indian Ocean.
The par 3 fourth must be the most famous on the Golf Coast and undoubtedly the hallmark of this beautiful golf course. At just 112 metres, it has spectacular sea views and you can hear waves crash over the rocks below the tee box.
Depending on the direction and strength of the wind, may be playing a gentle wedge into the green or hitting a full blooded four iron. The series of dams which come into play on all but eight holes are a refuge for an ever increasing bird population and whales and dolphins can frequently be seen from the fourth and fifth holes.
The clubhouse has great views of the sea and is an ideal spot to relax after an exciting game.
The Wild Coast Sun Country Club is a rugged beauty of a golf course. This Wild Coast golf course may be a daunting challenge for professionals and amateurs alike but its’ wide fairways and huge greens attract golfers of all levels. At face value the score card might suggest that this course is a bit of a push-over, less than 6,000 metres in length with 6 par threes. The reality is that the Wild Coast Sun Country Club is one of South Africa's most testing layouts. Golfers who have played the course will know that the greatest challenge is to conquer the prevailing winds, which add an entirely new dimension to the course. The 13th hole, a par 3 played across a waterfall is generally regarded the best short hole in the country. For drama nothing can match the 12th, an outstanding par 5. Here the drive is hit from a high elevated tee to a fairway far below that snakes its’ way through a valley flanked by a dam and stream on the left with a natural hillock on the right. The more of the river you take on with your drive the easier the approach to the green.
For a game that will really put your skills to the test, you've got to play the Wild Coast Golf Course, rated as one of the best courses in Southern Africa. After a challenging day on the course, you can relax in the Clubhouse. Designed by Robert Trent Jones (Jnr), this course is one of Sun International's most challenging and scenic. It's easy to see why.
With 59 large bunkers guarding manicured lawns, the hole layouts and scenery border on the fantastic. What's more, when the coast breeze gets up, so does your score! However, if your ball lands in the dam below the Clubhouse, you'll hear the ringing of a ships brass bell from the Clubhouse Balcony.
There are 6 par threes but two of these don't have fairways from tee to green! Just lined gorges and on the 13th, a waterfall. And the shot on the twelfth (par five) is one of the most spectacular shots you are ever likely to play.
Although the course is 5800m in length, the walk is more like eight kilometers, so be prepared to take up to 6 hours for your game.
After the days golf head back to the lodge for a relaxing afternoon and visit Pistols Saloon on the way which is a must see for any guest visiting the south coast.
Dinner at the lodge

The course is a delight to play with water features and the natural beauty of the course enhancing the pleasure of your round of golf. The course is carefully laid out to cater to golfers of all standards, ensuring a memorable experience regardless of your golfing expertise.
